Cuts Of Guilt, Cuts Deeper now available in all formats!

Tags: , , , , , , , , , | 0 Comments

Dear Friends,

CUTS-OF-GUILT-650px

Cuts Of Guilt, Cuts Deeper, the new magnum opus by Merzbow, Mats Gustafsson, Balazs Pandi, here with Thurston Moore on guitar, is finally available to buy in all formats, including Double Vinyl (2x180gms).

From the press release:

“How did renowned Japanese noisemaker Merzbow (aka Masami Akita), Swedish saxophonist Mats Gustafsson and Hungarian drummer Balazs Pandi follow up their majorly intense statement made on their tumultuous debut album, Cuts, which was released in 2013? By adding another ingredient to the volatile mix, in the person of skronking guitar hero and Sonic Youth founder Thurston Moore things are taken up a notch or two on the Richter scale on their RareNoiseRecords follow-up recording. With Gustafsson’s roaring baritone sax blending with Moore’s shriekback guitar, Pandi’s intensely throbbing beats and Merzbow’s subversive white noise barrages, it all adds up to a sonic pummeling of epic proportions on the remarkable two CD-set/two LP-set, Cuts of Guilt, Cuts Deeper.

Here a reminder of why you should offer yourself

Get your Double CD here, your Double LP here, your COMBO (LP+CD) here, your 24bit/96kHz .flac DL here, your standard .flac DL here, your .mp3 DL here.

Enjoy!

Dear Friends

TWINSCAPES_600600_72dpi

2014 has started swiftly, and we would like to take the opportunity to offer you all a peek at the releases we have prepared for this year. This year’s release schedule will be very intense and will feature two releases per monthly cycle

End of February/Early March:

We start with TWINSCAPES (RNR037 and RNR037LP) ,  an album imagined and moulded by Colin Edwin and Lorenzo Feliciati  after an impromptu gig in London in Spring 2013.  The two master bass-players called upon trumpeter Nils Petter Molvaer, saxophonist David Jackson of Van Der Graaf Generator, percussionist Andi Pupato of Ronin and Roberto Gualdi, drummer of Italian Prog Rock legends PFM. TWINSCAPES was mixed by none other than Bill Laswell in Orange Studios, NJ. Official release date for the album is March 7th.

The album can now be ordered here NOW from the RareNoiseStore as CD Digipack, Single LP 180gms (shipping from around Feb 25th, e.g. a roughly week from release date), .mp3, .flac and 24bit/96Khz HD .flac digital. It will be available on Amazon, Itunes, Emusic, Spotify and all usual retailers (physical and digital) as well as shops ordering from our distributors (Cargo UK, Cargo Germany, Darla)

FreeNelsonMandoomJazz SaxophoneGiganticus

Concurrently the double EP by Free Nelson Mandoomjazz is being released (The Shape Of DoomJazz to come / Saxophone Giganticus – RNR039 and RNR039LP). The three Scots, Rebecca Sneddon on alto sax, Colin Stewart on bass and Paul Archibald on drums were discovered by Eraldo Bernocchi mid 2013 – once signed they headed over to Gorbal Studios in Glasgow in September 2013 where they re-recorded their two first EPs and a new full length album (The Awakening of The City) due out in 2015. The Double EP and the next full length album were mixed by Eraldo Bernocchi. Official release date for the album is March 7th

End Of March /Early April:

The second release cycle will see two magnificent recordings being concurrently released, both with an official release date of April 7th (pre-orders will start March 4th)

SONY DSC

We will start with ELEC3CITIES (RNR038 and RNR038LP), the new album by Italian piano trio CHAT NOIR (Michele Cavallari on piano, multiple keyboards, analog synthesizers and effects, Luca Fogagnolo on electric bass, upright bass, guitars and effects and Giuliano Ferrari on drums and effects).

By organically and masterfully blending elements of Electronica, both Ambient and Concrete Music with structures arising out of chamber music and jazz, this innovative has come up with a wholly unique sound on Elec3Cities that may establish a daring new direction for the format. The delicate balance of electronic experimentalism and acoustic piano jazz has been evolving gradually from the group’s initial release in 2006, Adoration, and continued on 2007’s Decoupage through 2008’s Difficult to See You and 2011’s acclaimed Weather Forecasting Stone. But the three Italian musicians take it to a wholly new level on Elec3Cities, their most overtly experimental outing to date and debut for the London-based RareNoise label.

Pre-Orders of this album will go live on the RareNoiseStore from March 4th as CD Digipack, Single LP 180gms (shipping from around March 31st, e.g roughly a week from release date), .mp3, .flac and 24bit/96Khz HD .flac digital. Concurrently RareNoise will be releasing PLYMOUTH , a three part improvised psychedelic suite  Jamie Saft (piano, organs), Joe Morris (guitars), Gerald Cleaver (drums), Chris Lightcap (electric bass), Mary Halvorson (guitars). Recorded  in Jamie Saft’s Potterville studios, this record presents itself as an entrancing, psychedelic organic voyage. It establishes psychedelia as one of the columns of contemporary free music, and is both mind blowing and incredibly subtle.

End of May /Early June

The two releases slated for late May/early June are:

a. INDIGO MIST (RNR043 and RNR043LP), a collaboration between the Cuong Vu Trio and electroacoustic composer Prof Richard Karpen. This is an incredible release – a study in the organic interaction of man and machine, musicians and patches. The result is a suite of incredible subtlety and smooth complexity, simultaneously a hymn to jazz canons of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn and a nod to compositional structures of contemporary electroacoustic masters. More News soon

b. INTERSTATIC‘s new album “Arise“(RNR042 and RNR042LP). The trio of Roy Powell, Jacob Young and Jarle Vespestad have worked hard on a new incredible release to follow on the self-titled debut album (RNR026) released in 2012 on RareNoiseRecords. The result is masterful ROCK’N’ROLL album. More News soon

Pre-Orders of these album will go live on the RareNoiseStore early May  as CD Digipack, Single LP 180gms (shipping from around March 31st, e.g roughly a week from release date), .mp3, .flac and 24bit/96Khz HD .flac digital. End of September/Early October

September will see the release of

a. a quartet by WADADA LEO SMITH, JAMIE SAFT, JOE MORRIS and BALAZS PANDI (RNR044 and RNR044LP). We have listened to the first mixes and can vouch to the fact that it is magnificent. More News soon

b. the new OBAKE recording (RNR045 and RNR045LP)by Eraldo Bernocchi, Lorenzo Esposito Fornasari, Jason Köhnen and Balazs Pandi. Utterly breathtaking and terrifying abstract metal grindcore from the masters. More News soon

End of October

Final release of the year will be MOLE’s new recording “RGB“(RNR046 and RNR046LP), follow up to “What’s The Meaning?” (RNR027) they released on RareNoiseRecords in 2012.  Mark Aanderud (piano) and Hernan Hecht (drums) are joined here by Stomu Takeishi on bass. SPELLBINDING More News soon

2015

2015 will be a year of further surprises. Currently on the books

a new SLOBBER PUP (after 2013’s “Black Aces“) but this time with Mats Gustafsson on horn,

a new Merzbow, Gustafsson Pandi with special guest Thurston Moore,

a new METALLIC TASTE OF BLOOD with Ted Parsons on drums,

a new FREQUENT FLYER (by Lorenzo Feliciati with Steve Jansen on drums),

a new PLANET MICROJAM (by David Fiuczynski) with Rudresh Mahanthappa

This Year’s New Releases Part 1 : CUTS

Tags: , , , , , | 0 Comments

Dear Friends

Our 2013 release cycle will start in February 2013 with

Merzbow / Gustafsson / Pandi : Cuts

mgp_small

Quoting from the Press Release:

“If jazz, as the eminent critic Whitney Balliet once wrote, is the “sound of surprise,” Cuts, an intensely cathartic, fiercely turbulent collaboration between Japanese noise purveyor Masami Akita (aka Merzbow), Hungarian drummer Balazs Pandi and Swedish saxophonist Mats Gustasfsson, is the “sound of shock and awe.” A sonic assault of epic proportions, it blends the bombast of Merzbow’s grinding white noise barrages with Pandi’s thunderous pulse on the kit and Gustafsson’s ferocious abandon on baritone sax and clarinet mixed with live electronics, bringing to mind a marriage of Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Music and Coltrane’s Interstellar Space, with touches of Sonic Youth’s sonic mayhem thrown in for good measure.”

Recorded on April 14th 2012 at Metropolis Studio in Budapest, Cuts has been mixed in Tokyo by Masami Akita himself.
